Thermal protectors are a more complex device, usually made from a bimetallic sheet with a positive temperature coefficient (PTC). This means that as the temperature increases, its resistance also increases. When the temperature in the circuit exceeds the preset safe value, the resistance of the thermal protector will increase rapidly, causing the current to decrease, thereby reducing the temperature of the circuit. This self-regulating property allows thermal protectors to effectively prevent equipment from overheating and automatically shut down the circuit in the event of overheating. Therefore, thermal protectors are widely used in various electronic equipment and appliances, such as motors, batteries, transformers, etc.
