17am Temperature control + PTC Motor protection switch

17AM-D+PTC thermal protector (Texas Instruments KLIXON) is a current-sensitive, temperature-sensing protection device connected in series with the motor coil. The protector changes depending on the coil temperature and motor current. When the temperature and current increase, the heat generated is transferred to the bimetal component. When the predetermined operating temperature setting value is reached, the bimetal element will act quickly to disconnect the contacts and cut off the circuit. When the temperature of the motor coil drops to the rated reset temperature value of the product, the bimetal component returns to its initial state, the moving contact closes, and the circuit is re-conducted.
The 17AM-D+PTC thermal protector is a PTC heating element connected in parallel with the contacts on the 17AM-D protector. When the 17AM-D protector is in the closed state, the PTC is in the short-circuited state and has no voltage. When an abnormality occurs in the protected object, after the protector contact is disconnected, the PTC has voltage and heats up. This heat keeps the protector in the off state, and the load is in a stopped state because the PTC resistance reaches more than 10KΩ. Only after the power is cut off, the PTC cooling protector contacts can be automatically reset, and the power load can be turned on again to resume operation.

● The working principle of the 17am PTC thermal protector: current passes through the KLIXON bimetallic reed and two contacts. When the electrical appliance is not working properly and the surrounding temperature or current is too high, when the heat reaches the trip temperature value of the protector, the bimetal reed will act quickly, thus cutting off the circuit. When the temperature drops to the reset temperature, the KLIXON® bimetal reed quickly closes again.
